Place: Worldkarts in Kortrijk - Belgium.

Date: Friday, August 1st 2008 at 10:30am.

Entry: Teams are to be identified by “Country”. At least one citizen from that country may sign up at any time at WORLDKARTS. Full entry fee will be € 300,00 per team. Teams that pay before Friday August 1 can get a 10% discount.

Teams: Up to twenty teams of 4 drivers each. Drivers are not allowed to participate in more than one team. At least 3 drivers need to be citizens of the country they are racing for.

Rules:

  1. Schedule:
    1. 09:30 – Weighing, Briefing and Kart draw.
    2. 10:10 – Five minute qualifying session.
    3. 10:30 – Le Mans style race start.
  2. Safety: All drivers must be fully equipped with race outfits. Teams will receive colored shirts with the country flag on the top back. These shirts must be used on top of the racing suit.
  3. Starting Grid: Each team will have 5 minutes to score its best lap. Teams may choose one or more drivers to drive for those 5 minutes. Each team shall use the same Kart drawn for the race start, and the designated ballast. At any time (including qualifying) the team may choose to change the Kart. In this case it will have to go through the same procedure designated for the race, and it will not count as one of the two mandatory race stops.
  4. Ballast: Add the weight of all drivers without their racing gear. Then divide it by 4. If the average is below 80kgs the team will have to carry ballast equivalent to the difference. Ballast will be supplied by WORLDKARTS. Maximum admitted ballast will be 20 kgs. All teams must average at least 60 kgs. Organization will have track officials checking the ballast at all times and stops. After the checkered flag drivers shall remain seated at their Karts until track officials allow them to leave the Kart. Lack of ballast or wrong ballast will be punished with disqualification, or starting in the last position on the grid, depending on when the mistake was found. Each team is also responsible for checking their own ballast. If more than one team is found with ballast difference, the one that has the largest difference will be placed behind.
  5. Changing Drivers: The driver changing order is up to each team. Each driver must race at least 40 minutes. Track Official will be taking note of the time each driver came in and out of the Kart. If any driver has driven less than 40 minutes the team will have discounted one lap per minute. Red lights at pit entry will show that pits are closed for drivers change. This will not be counted as excuse for running less than 40 minutes. There is no time set for driver change.
  6. Changing Karts: There are 2 mandatory pit stops for Kart change. A different Pit lane with a different light sign from the drivers’ changing lane will be indicated. Changing drivers during Kart Change is not allowed. Red lights will indicate that Pit Lane is closed. Green Light Pit Lane is open. In case the Kart breaks down or runs out of fuel and the Pit Lane is closed, driver must park at the Pit Lane entry and wait until the green light allows him to enter the Pit Lane. Kart changing procedure I the following; Driver must stop at Pit Lane entry, At this moment the stop-watch is started and the driver has 40 seconds to park, leave the Kart, draw the next already refueled Kart. Pit Lane Officials will help him out transferring the ballast, number plate and Kart sensor. Driver should then drive to the Pit exit and wait for authorization from the Pit Lane Official to exit the Pit Lane. This authorization will only take place after the 40 second mark on the chronometer and the official verify that there is no danger on the driver return to the race track. The decision of when to stop is up to each team. WORLDKARTS has informed that Karts can run up to 90 minutes without running out of Fuel.
  7. Karts: WORLDKARTS will prepare 25 Karts with 9HP engines.
  8. Marshals and Track Officials: WORLDKARTS will provide three Marshals, 4 Pit Lane Officials, and 6 flagmen. All will be equipped with Radios. The following attitudes are worthy of a penalty:
